Anaesthetic management of pheochromocytoma -A case report
Pheochromocytoma is a rare adrenal gland tumour, originating from chromaffin tissue, and can be treated and cured with prompt medical and surgical intervention. Achieving hemodynamic stability during the perioperative period must be the goal of anaesthesia. There have been remarkable advancements in the perioperative management of these tumours over the years, leading to improved patient outcomes. To maintain intra-operative hemodynamic stability, the effective approach would be general anaesthesia with thoracic epidural blockade. It suppresses stress response to induction, peritoneal insufflation, and tumour manipulation. Here we present a case of unilateral pheochromocytoma and its perioperative management in adrenalectomy in this case report.
