Breathing Life Back- Navigating the Complexities of Laryngeal and Tracheal Injuries- A case report
Laryngotracheal trauma is a rare but potentially life-threatening clinical condition. These injuries can compromise airway patency and significantly impair voice function due to disruption of the laryngeal and tracheal cartilaginous framework. Diagnosis is based on a combination of imaging and endoscopic assessments that help determine the extent of structural damage. Management strategies vary depending on severity, ranging from observation with supportive care to surgical repair or complete reconstruction. In cases involving mucosal disruption or misalignment of structures, reconstructive procedures such as stent placement may be necessary. The primary goal of treatment is early and effective airway stabilization. Long-term management requires a multidisciplinary approach involving regular endoscopic monitoring, nutritional support, speech and voice rehabilitation, and infection control.
