EFFECTIVENESS OF THE BASKA MASK VERSUS THE I-GEL DEVICE IN ADULT PATIENTS UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW PROTOCOL
The objective of this review is to compare and assess the effectiveness of the Baska mask and i-gel device in grown-up patients undergoing elective surgery with general anesthesia. Although both devices are commonly used for airway management, there is limited research that examines their clinical performance. This review will consider only randomized controlled trials that involve adult patients aged 18 or older who were given ventilation using either the Baska mask or i-gel during elective surgery under general anesthesia. To identify relevant studies, both published and unpublished, a comprehensive search will be conducted on various databases, such as MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, ClinicalTrials.gov, OpenGrey, Scopus, PubMed, Dissertations and Theses. Two independent reviewers will screen the titles and abstracts of the studies to identify eligible papers, retrieve the full-text studies, assess the methodological quality of the studies, and extract data. The data will be analyzed using statistical meta-analysis, and the standard chi-squared test will be used to assess the heterogeneity of the data.
