SUPRAGLOTTIC HEMANGIOMA IN AN ADULT PRESENTING AS STRIDOR: A RARE ENTITY
Hemangioma is a benign tumour that consists of abnormal collection of blood vessels resulting from endothelial cell proliferation. Hemangiomas are commonly seen in the head and neck out of which Laryngeal Hemangioma is less commonly encountered, with less than 15 cases published to the best of our knowledge as per our review of literature. With a very few cases reported till date in the adult type, here we Report an 65 year old female adult case of Supraglottic Hemangioma who presented with Stridor. Although the lesion was small, it was seen involving the mucosa just above the posterior commissure obscuring almost the entire glottis chink. Patient underwent complete excision by Coblator assisted Microlaryngeal surgery with Tracheostomy in view of anticipated difficult airway and the risk of bleeding to protect the airway. Histopathological Examination confirmed the diagnosis of Hemangioma and the patient is on regular follow up.
