" Tracheostomy Management in Difficult Situations "

Tracheostomy is a lifesaving procedure of placement of a surgical airway. Inadequately managed airways might be dangerous due to the hurdles faced during securing the Tracheostomy tube. This study aims to showcase the complexities and critical nature of managing the airway in various difficult Tracheostomies done at our institution in emergency situation. To enumerate the difficulties/challenges faced during Tracheostomies, including pediatric and revision Tracheostomies. Study design -Retrospective study of ten cases, Study place - Madras Medical college (Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital), Study period -2022 to 2024. Tracheostomy is a procedure that has revolutionized recovery of critically ill patients and the difficulties faced during such a lifesaving procedure might lead to fatal situations if the airway is approached without proper assessment and planning and it is a team work.
