Tuberculosis of the vallecula – A Rare case report
Vallecular cysts are uncommon lesions of the larynx. They are mostly present in the neonatal period and rare in adults. Vallecular cysts develop when the lingual tonsillar crypt or mucous gland duct dilates due to obstruction from inflammation, irritation, or trauma. Small cysts typically cause no symptoms. However, cyst growth causes acute airway difficulties, dysphagia, and odynophagia. This is a case of a 48-year-old male who complained of throat pain and dysphagia for 10 days and was diagnosed with vallecular cyst. Patient was diagnosed post operatively with tuberculosis of the vallecula.
