A Comparison of Treatment Duration of Mild Class II Malocclusion Between Clear Aligners and Fixed Appliances
To compare the treatment duration of intermaxillary elastics in correction of mild Angle's Class II division 1 malocclusion with clear aligner treatment (CA) versus fixed multibracket (FMB) in Adult patients. The study sample consisted of 24 consecutively patients (mean age ± SD 20.5+ 1.69 years), 16 females and 8 were treated in the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry at Hama University. All patients were treated with a non-extraction orthodontic treatment, 12 with FMB and 12 with CA. treatment duration recorded by months in both groups. Two sample t-tests were used to test for significant differences between the two groups, the level of significance was set as P <0.05. The average treatment duration in the CA group was (6.58+1.12) months whereas the average was (12.50+1.80) in the FA group, with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). There was significant difference in the treatment duration with Class II elastics combined with CA and FMB.
